Chicago Rockford International Airport Board hires search firm to fill executive director position
Online Staff Report
The Greater Rockford Airport Authority (GRAA) Board of Commissioners announced it has hired a search firm to find qualified candidates for the executive director opening.
Bharat Puri, GRAA Board chairman, said: “The airport has a responsibility to be a good steward to the taxpayers, and great leadership helps maximize their investment. The board decided the search firm is a critical service that will allow us to bring in the best, brightest talent who will be a vital asset to the airport and community. While we have the utmost confidence in the airport’s current team and leadership, a national search exposes RFD to a new pool of candidates and fulfills our responsibility to stakeholders.”
Former executive director Bob O’Brien resigned after a reportedly heated Airport Authority board meeting March 29. Board Chairman Brian Boyer also resigned, having since been replaced by Puri.
ADK Executive Search, based in Atlantic Beach, Fla., was hired by the board to conduct the executive director search. The firm specializes exclusively in management searches for airport communities. Applications for the executive director position are being accepted until Sept. 12, 2011, with the goal of completing the selection process by December.
The executive director is responsible for the overall administration, operation, maintenance and development of the airport and its 40 employees. Amy Ott serves as the interim executive director of RFD.
