Man sentenced to 25 years for possession with intent to deliver 100 grams of substance containing cocaine

Jermaine C. Tidwell, 31, was sentenced to 25 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of possession with the intent to deliver more than 100 grams of a substance containing cocaine. The defendant was found guilty by Judge Ronald J. White after a two-day bench trial.
The offense was a result of a traffic stop conducted by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 29, 2008. During the course of the traffic stop, the police recovered approximately 264 gross grams of a substance that field tested positive for the probable presence of cocaine.
This is an enhanced class X felony with a sentencing range of nine to 40 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Because of the nature of the charge, the law requires that the defendant serve at least 75 percent of his sentence.
