City to hold Community and Economic Development public hearings Aug. 25

The City of Rockford will hold two public hearings to provide status of 2010 Community and Economic Development Program activities to interested citizens, groups and organizations and also provide this same audience with an opportunity to express their ideas and views about housing and community development needs as they relate to the City of Rockford’s 2012 Consolidated Plan Annual Update.
The Consolidated Plan Annual Update satisfies the minimum statutory requirements for three federal formula programs: the Community Development Block Grant (DCBG), the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) and the Emergency Shelter Grants Program (ESGP).
The public hearings will take place at noon, Thursday, Aug. 25, at Montague Branch Library, 1238 S. Winnebago St., and then again at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, at Patriot’s Gateway Community Center, 615 S. Fifth St. The evening session is a repeat of the noon session.
The hearings will be accessible to people with disabilities in compliance with federal laws upon notification of anticipated attendance. Individuals with disabilities planning to attend and needing special accommodations should contact by letter or telephone, the Neighborhood Development Division, Community and Economic Development Department, 425 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61104, (815) 987-5690, by Aug. 23 to make notice of their anticipated attendance.
