The YWCA is offering three new computer skills trainings. The first, Basic Computer Skills Training, is a single class meeting Aug. 27 and is designed for beginners. The course is $20 and meets for five hours. Registration is required.
The Y is also offering 10-week sessions in Microsoft Word and Excel. The classes are being made available to meet the needs of individuals looking for daytime classes. Microsoft Word begins Tuesday, Sept. 13, and Microsoft Excel begins Thursday, Sept. 15. Both classes meet from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The courses are reasonably priced at only $50, and individuals who complete all 10 sessions will receive $25 of their course fee back.
The trainings take place at the YWCA of Rockford, 4990 E. State St., in the Puri Family Computer Lab. The state-of-the-art computer lab is equipped with 20 individual stations.
The computer lab is free for public use Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 12:30 through 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 8 p.m. Career Friday summer hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
The lab is also available for rental, providing a classroom setting for businesses and organizations that lack computer lab space but wish to offer group training on industry-specific software for their employees.
