Saturday, Sept. 10, is a big day for Womanspace. First, our beautiful campus hosts the annual Artists in Action Art Fair and Pottery Olympics. Our members and instructors will demonstrate and sell their paintings, photography, jewelry, pottery and other fine crafts, plus the Anjali Pavilion will feature our best potters in friendly competition to see who can throw the tallest cylinder, the largest round pot, and more. That’s Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also try your own hand at pottery (including Raku), try massage, foot reflexology, hypnosis and more!
Then, Saturday night, it’s a benefit Wine Dinner at Wind Ridge Herb Farm. Owner Liz Fiorenza hosts a delicious six-course dinner with complementary wine pairings. See our website for the delicious menu and vegetarian options. Chef Evan from the Forest City Pub will demonstrate cooking with herbs, marinating, and more. Tickets for this fund-raiser are $100 per person, $45 of which is a charitable donation to Womanspace. Do you own a business? Purchase a tax-deductible table for four and bring your best clients or employees!
A new Body Fantastic art exhibit opens Sept. 16 and Clay Bodies in Gallery 3. A special reception will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. As a highlight of these exhibits, photographer and Columbia College Professor Melissa Ann Pinney presents Girl Ascending Oct. 1, with remarkable images of emerging female identity in her new photo-art book. Photographers of all abilities, girls, and their parents should all attend this program. Meantime, this Saturday’s Artists in Action is your last chance to see the Anything Goes exhibit in Gallery 1 and the Red Tent quilts in Gallery 3. Girl Ascending, art exhibits and opening receptions are sponsored by David Boccignone of Ameriprise Financial.
Shinto opens our Lunch and Learn World Religion Series today, Sept. 7, sponsored by Sandra J. Slaga, Attorney at Law.
