Park District holds volunteer open house Sept. 8

Staff Report

The Rockford Park District wants to hear more people say, “I am proud to be a volunteer for the Rockford Park District.”

There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the Rockford Park District and some new options involving its newest project, Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, set to open in late October 2011. This is a chance to give your time to a very distinguished organization whose mission is to help people enjoy life.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the Park District, you are welcome to attend a volunteer open house to gather more information at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Board Room of the Webbs Norman Center, 401 S. Main St., Rockford.

The volunteer open house is a way to learn more about:

• Volunteerism at large throughout the Park District

• Specific volunteer opportunities at the Conservatory

• Background information and photos about the Conservatory

The meeting is expected to run approximately 45 minutes to one hour. Light refreshments will be served.

Those who plan to attend the open house and who need an auxiliary aid or service (sign language interpreter, assistive listening device, or other support) to ensure effective communication, should contact Rockford Park District Customer Service at least 48 hours in advance at (815) 987-8800 (for TTY users: 888-871-6171) for assistance or disability support.

For more information, contact Kim O’Malley, volunteer coordinator, at (815) 987-1608, or e-mail kimomalley@rockfordparkdistrict.org.
