Photo: Pecatonica River Sweep — a success again

Organizers, the U.S. Sportsmen’s Youth Foundation and the Rock Hollow Hunt Club, said the Pecatonica River Clean-Up Sunday, Aug. 28, was a great success, with more than 100 volunteers. One notable find was a toxic waste barrel dug out of the river. The award for “Most garbage collected, 16 years old and younger” was won by Dillion and Garrett Moreland. “Most garbage collected, 16 years old and older” was won by Scott Johnson and Daniel Milke. Attaining the “Most sponsors” went to the Doug Francis family, with honorable mention to Wyatt Hayes. “Most unique garbage found” went to Katie and Nicole Walsh, and Megan Wellman. “Oldest member” went to Butch Galager, with the tease “He will be on the Smucker’s jar pretty soon!” “Most garbage collected off the ground” went to Mark Rabey. “Most garbage pulled out of river” was won by Scott Johnson & crew. Chief organizer and sponsor Brendan Walsh and his family wish to thank everyone, and said, “We’ll see you next year.” This Saturday, Sept. 10, will be the Rock River Sweep.
