Belvidere’s Summerfield Zoo hosts medieval reenactors Sept. 10-11

BELVIDERE, Ill. — Summerfield Zoo, 3088 Flora Road, Belvidere, Ill., will host medieval reenactors Sept. 10-11.

Margaret Tyler, volunteer at Summerfield Zoo, explained: “Summerfield Zoo will be going medieval on Sept. 10 and 11! This will be a fun event for everyone to get the chance to see local medieval reenactors from the Shire of Blackhawk duel, spin lace, prepare medieval-style meals, play musical instruments from the time period and much more!”

The zoo is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sundays. Admission is $7 per adult and $5 per child. All proceeds go to the care of all the animals, many of which are rescues.

Enjoy animal presentations and a petting zoo, and shop in the gift shop. Lunch stand is open 11 a.m.-4 p.m., daily.

Summerfield Zoo is a not-for-profit organization providing an up-close and personal animal experience for the whole family. As a small zoo, visitors can get up close and meet many of the animals.
