Police in search of two suspects in Aug. 12 robbery of North Mulford Check and Go Cash Store

Arrest warrants have been issued for two Rockford men in relation to the Aug. 12 robbery of a Check and Go Cash Store at 160 N. Mulford Road.

Rockford Police are in search of information about the whereabouts of Karl Fort Jr., 18, and Will A. Evans, 18, both of Rockford.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Fort and Evans is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police Department at (815) 987-5824 or Crime Stoppers at (815) 963-7867.

At approximately 9:40 a.m., Aug. 12, Rockford police responded to the Check and Go Cash Store at 160 N. Mulford in reference to an armed robbery investigation. When they arrived, officers learned two black male suspects, one armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspects fled from the store with an undisclosed amount of currency. The clerk was not injured in the incident.

Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation of the incident. Sept. 2, the facts of the investigation were reviewed with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s office, which authorized the charge of aggravated robbery and arrest warrants for Fort and Evans.
