One of two suspects in Check and Go Cash Store robbery in custody

Will A. Evans, 18, of Rockford — one of two suspects in the Aug. 12 armed robbery of the Check and Go Cash Store at 160 N. Mulford — was taken into custody by Rockford Police Sept. 16.
Evans was located by members of Rockford Police Department’s M-3 Streets Team at approximately 2 p.m., Sept. 16, in the 800 block of Lapp Court.
Police are still in search of another suspect in the case, 18-year-old Karl Fort Jr. of Rockford. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Fort is encouraged to contact the Rockford Police Department at (815) 987-5824 or Crime Stoppers at (815) 963-7867.
At approximately 9:40 a.m., Aug. 12, Rockford police responded to the Check and Go Cash Store at 160 N. Mulford in reference to an armed robbery investigation. When they arrived, officers learned two black male suspects, one armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.
The suspects fled from the store with an undisclosed amount of currency. The clerk was not injured in the incident.
Detectives from the Rockford Police Department conducted a follow-up investigation of the incident. Sept. 2, the facts of the investigation were reviewed with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s office, which authorized the charge of aggravated robbery and arrest warrants for Fort and Evans.
