Habitat for Humanity to dedicate three homes Sept. 24
Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity (RAHFH) volunteers and homeowners will celebrate a summer of hard work when they dedicate three more new homes Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 3 p.m. at 3526 Blackstone Ave. in Rockford. Each dedication will take approximately 20-30 minutes with refreshments served at the last house at 3308 Gilbert Ave. at 4:30 p.m.
The dedication ceremony includes a home blessing, an opportunity for the new homeowners to thank volunteers and sponsors, and turning over of the keys. Volunteers and homeowners have worked diligently on the houses since framing them at the start of the summer. There are now 94 homes in the City of Rockford built by volunteers and sold to qualified families.
Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity, incorporated in 1988, is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that work in partnership with qualified families to build simple, affordable houses. Habitat homeowners purchase their houses at cost with no-interest mortgages while contributing 300 hours of “sweat equity” labor working on the homes.
