Police arrest suspect in purse snatching case

Aelsia E. Waybright, 48, of Rockford, was arrested at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, in relation to a string of thefts of purses from shopping carts at area grocery stores.
The arrest was the result of a follow-up investigation based on information police obtained through Crime Stoppers.
The rash of thefts has occurred over the past two weeks at local grocery stores. In all of the incidents, the victims were females ranging from 56 to 80 years of age. At the time of the thefts, the victims left their purses in shopping carts while shopping.
Waybright was charged with felony theft with regard to incidents at Logli, 2642 Charles St.; Hilander, 3710 N. Main St.; and Logli, 3150 N. Rockton Ave.
Waybright is lodged at Winnebago County Jail, where she is being held in lieu of bond.
