Rockford City Market attendance tops 33,000 with five weeks remaining; market open 3-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23

Rockford City Market continues to attract large crowds to downtown, even as the cooler months are approaching. The market is open for five more weeks and expects to see a high turnout as attendance records have already topped 33,000 so far this season.

The market runs 3-7 p.m. every Friday through Oct. 21 along Water Street between State and Jefferson streets in downtown Rockford. Check out the Rockford City Market website at www.rockfordcitymarket.com for a complete calendar of events and entertainment.

At the market this week (Friday, Sept. 23), entertainment will be provided by the Jodi Beach Trio, whose unique and distinctive arrangements of jazz music have won them five Best of Rockford Awards and a place in the Rockford Area Music Industry’s Hall of Fame.

Activities for this Friday’s market include a Learn Great Foods cooking demonstration with Frank Calvanese of Deli Italia, who will be showcasing specialties of the house, delicious potato pizza and much more. Four demonstrations will be at 3:30, 4:15, 5 and 5:30 p.m.

The Rockford Park District’s activity tent asks you to wear your favorite jersey as they get moving with youth sports.

The Rockford Mass Transit District provides City Market goers a free trolley service each week between the Riverfront Museum Park, Rockford City Market and Davis Park. The trolley runs between 3:30-11:30 p.m., with additional stops at Block 5, the Coronado and State and Main streets.

Rockford City Market is a collaborative effort of several agencies, including the Rock River Development Partnership, On the Waterfront, Inc., Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, the River District Association, the City of Rockford, the Rockford Area Economic Development Council and the Illinois Small Business Development Center.
