Rockford man arrested on heroin charges

Phillip L. Dixon, 32, of Rockford, was arrested and charged with the delivery of 1-15 grams of heroin within 1,000 feet of a park, 1-15 grams of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church, and possession with intent to deliver heroin within 1,000 feet of a church.

Members of the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit had been investigation Dixon after learning he was allegedly involved with selling heroin. The charges resulted from the investigation.

Oct. 3, members of the Narcotics Unit went to 1408 Andrews, where detectives located Dixon and took him into custody. At the time of Dixon’s arrest, an additional 21 bags of suspected heroin, more than 7 grams of suspected crack cocaine and United States currency were located on his person.

Dixon is on parole for a felon being in possession of a firearm. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
