Police identify man, 49, as victim of fatal shooting on Gladstone

Michael Korte, 49, has been identified by Rockford police as the victim of a fatal shooting.

Shortly before noon, Thursday, Oct. 6, Rockford police and fire departments responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Gladstone Avenue in reference to a medical assist. Upon their arrival, Korte was located deceased inside the residence.

Oct. 7, the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Korte. During the autopsy, it was revealed Korte had a gunshot wound to the upper body.
