Area credit unions sponsor Oct. 15 budgeting seminar

Staff Report

As a kickoff to International Credit Union Week, the Rockford Area Chapter of Credit Unions (RACCU) will sponsor a free public seminar titled “Budgeting & Credit: Things You Need to Know.”

The seminar will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, at Rock Valley Credit Union, 11280 Forest Hills Road, Machesney Park.

Topics to be discussed include: how to start a budget plan; how to rebuild your credit; spending and saving tips; and tools to help you get your finances in order, even after a financial crisis.

Educational information and financial management tools will be provided to attendees, as well as light refreshments.

RSVPs are suggested, but not required. Credit union members and non-members are welcome to take advantage of this free informational program. To register or for more information, contact Anita Countryman, Rock Valley Credit Union, at (815) 633-5788.

International Credit Union Day, Oct. 20, celebrates the common roots of 186 million credit union members in 97 countries. The credit union movement has come a long way since the first financial cooperative was established in Germany 163 years ago. As we observe past achievements and look forward to the accomplishment to come, the members of the RACCU invite you to join in celebrating International Credit Union Week, Oct. 17-25.
