Literary Hook: ‘The Process of Writing’ offered at The Clearing
By Christine Swanberg
Author and Poet
Again this year, The Clearing, a folk school in Ellison Bay in Door County, Wisconsin, will offer “The Process of Writing: Poetry and Short Prose.”
This class will include a balance of discussion, writing prompts, time to write, sharing and critique. Discussions will include the following topics: examining the creative process, motivation and ideas for writing, the pros and cons of critiquing, and preparation for and protocol of public readings. In addition, writers will discuss possibilities for engaging creatively in their communities, publishing, and establishing relationships with editors.
Participants are given ample time to write in the solitude and quiet of The Clearing’s beautiful environment as well as a supportive, enthusiastic group setting. Poetry and short prose prompts will stimulate creativity. The week will culminate in a reading of work generated in the workshop.
