[1]More than 1,700 rowers from throughout the United States gathered along the Rock River in Rockford Sunday, Oct. 9, for the 26th Annual BAIRD Head of the Rock Regatta. The sanctioned U.S. Rowing event, presented by the YMCA of the Rock River Valley’s Rowing Club, included participants from more than 60 rowing clubs, high schools and universities. Spectators watched the action from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food, clothing and music vendors, as well as alumni gatherings, were spread throughout the grounds of the race site. (Photo by Jon McGinty)
