Schultz to run in new county district

Staff Report

Refusing campaign contributions, Steve Schultz announced his bid for re-election in newly-defined district 3 (parts of Roscoe, Rockton and Machesney Park) for the Winnebago County Board.

Schultz is the vice president of Finance and Operations for Converge Worldwide/BGC, a group of 1,200 churches across the U.S. He also provides leadership to their $120 million Church Retirement Plan and their $162 million Church Loan Fund.

Schultz has drawn on his CPA and MBA (Northern Illinois University) in his service on the Finance and Operations Committee to promote fiscal responsibility, and he has fought for smart and effective land use on the Zoning Committee (helping to draft the new 2030 Land Use Plan).

Remarkably, Schultz refuses to take campaign contributions, wanting to focus exclusively on the interests of local citizens and not be obligated to special interests.

Schultz has been an outspoken representative of citizens’ interests; voting against tax increases and for better use of taxpayer funds, standing against special-interest influence on the board and standing for initiatives that will bring jobs and improved roads to Winnebago County.

The father of eight children, he is also a strong advocate for the schools in his district.

To volunteer for his campaign, call (815) 505-4345.
