‘Creepy Crawly Halloween Party’ Oct. 22 at Midwest Museum of Natural History

SYCAMORE, Ill. — Sycamore’s Midwest Museum of Natural History will host a “Creepy Crawly Halloween Party” from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22. Cost is $8 per person for children and adults, or $6 for members.
Trick-or-treat through the decorated museum, enjoying games along the way. Explore the Grossology Lab, where guests can watch dissection demonstrations, dig into owl pellets, and even make models of animal scat (poop!). Have your picture taken with live creepy crawlies, including snakes, turtles, bugs and lizards, and be sure to stop by and visit with tarantula experts Kathleen and Art Schamne.
Kathleen and Art will bring tarantulas of all sizes and colors, from the orange Colombian Pumpkin Patch Tarantula to the blue Martinique Tree Spider.
“Our goal is to educate people so that they may have a better understanding of tarantulas,” Kathleen said. “Art always wanted a tarantula, and I thought just one would be OK. Well, a week later, it turned into two. Still, not bad. Over four years ago, I established a limit of 15. Now, the collection has grown to over 150.”
All proceeds benefit the museum, a non-profit organization.
