Man receives maximum 10-year sentence for possession with intent to deliver cannabis

Freddie Ware, 33, was sentenced Oct. 19 to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge Ronald White. Ware was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver cannabis 30-500 grams after a jury trial Feb. 18.

Nov. 3, 2009, members of the Rockford Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment at 1216 Revell Ave., west apartment. During the search, the Narcotics Unit located Ware along with approximately 84 grams of a green, leafy substance packaged in small plastic bag packets, which field tested positive for the probable presence of cannabis. Also found in the residence were scales and $690 in cash.

Possession with intent to deliver cannabis 30-500 grams is a class 3 felony with a sentencing range of two to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections or probation. Ware received the maximum sentence for this offense.
