Rockford’s Sinnissippi Lagoon to undergo restoration; groundbreaking Oct. 25

Activity around the Sinnissippi Lagoon in Rockford will pick up as the Rockford Park District begins a Lagoon Restoration Project.

A special groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the north end of the lagoon (rain location: white tent beside Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens).

The lagoon is behind the new Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, 1354 N. Second St., Rockford.

Park at the Sea Scout building parking lot and walk through the Rose Garden. Parking rain site is Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens.

The groundbreaking is possible thanks to a major donation package to the Rockford Park District Foundation from the Eclipse Foundation, an anonymous donor, and William Charles, Ltd.
