From what I understand it has been almost 40 years of non-and underfunding by the state. There have been alot of members from both parties in the political offices during this time. When I see unsupportable comments like greedy teachers nice fat contracts, I see a lack of ability to think about an issue rationally. Teaching is a profession Teachers should be well compensated. Perhaps looking at their salaries and benefits compared to other professionals and not to jobs that require only a high school diploma if that. (Those individuals perform very important jobs; not putting them down.)

Also, according to the logic here only teachers and members of unions vote as if that were the case.

You're right, "No, it wasn’t the employees who siphoned money from the pension system. It was lawmakers."

However, the Teachers Unions can not wash it's hands of this problem. It WAS YOUR BOUGHT AND PAID FOR State Government officials who siphoned off this money, while assuring you greedy teachers nice, fat contracts in exchange for your support.

In case you need your memory refreshed, do any of these names ring a bell?

Rod Blagojevich?
Mike Madigan?
John Cullerton?
And their minions of lock-step Democrats?
