Sheriff’s detectives look for clues in early-morning shooting on North Horace Avenue in Rockford

At approximately 3:04 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 6, Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to 1415 N. Horace Ave., Rockford, in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival, a 16-year-old boy was located inside the home with several gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.
Information developed at the scene indicated the victim had been inside the residence asleep with other family members when a knock was heard at the front door.
The victim went to the door, and gunshots were fired through the door, striking the victim.
West Suburban Fire Department responded and treated the victim, and he was transported to the hospital.
At this point, no arrests have been made.
