Rock House Kids host Variety Show Nov. 12
Rock House Kids will host a Variety Show as a fund-raising event from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Rock House Kids building, 1325 Seventh St., Rockford.
Dola Gregory, executive director of Rock House Kids, said: “Now, more than ever, we need the community’s support. We are making a difference in the lives of the young people that come through our doors each week, but it takes financial support. We are seeing children turning from lives of despair to lives filled with hope.”
Rock House Kids’ motto is “help a child today, and you won’t have to repair an adult tomorrow.”
The cost of admission is $5 per person with children 5 and younger free. Tickets will be available at area churches but will also be sold at the door. There will be entertainment for kids such as face painting and games, but entertainment on the stage will be the main focus.
Scheduled events include: 3 p.m. — award-winning Sveas Soner Swedish singing group; 5 p.m. — Rock City Unique Steppers and illusionist Ron Tietsort; 6 p.m. — Rock House Kids and puppet teams; 7 p.m. — Silver (2010 RAMI Song of the Year winner — Contemporary Christian Band).
“There is so much variety that everyone will have something to enjoy,” said Gregory, “and we will also have hourly raffles for some great prizes.” Dinner and dessert options will be offered for a nominal fee.
Rock House Kids was founded in 1999 and has served Rockford’s at-risk, “throw-away” children, from pre-K on up and exists to share God’s love with some of Rockford’s highest crime rate and lowest income neighborhoods by meeting many of the children’s basic needs such as food, clothing, school supplies, etc.
