Local MoveOn.org members host ‘We Are the 99%’ rally Nov. 17 in Rockford

Local MoveOn.org members will host a “We Are the 99%” rally at 1:15 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, at the intersection of South Main and Morgan streets in Rockford.

The rally will first thank President Barack Obama and all those involved in the revitalization of the South Main area, which will begin with the replacement of the Morgan Street Bridge. These are tough times, and it is easy to overlook the good things happening. Moveon.org will be recognizing that good things do happen.

Second, Moveon.org will also rally to demand politicians in Washington, D.C., stand up for the 99 percent and stop their assault on the American dream.

The event is being organized in conjunction with the new American Dream Movement. The American Dream Movement is a growing movement inspired by protests in Wisconsin.

The American Dream Movement is composed of millions of ordinary Americans, along with dozens of leading grassroots organizations, fighting together for good jobs for all Americans, securing a future for our children and our communities, and making corporations and the super-rich pay their fair share in taxes.
