Rockford man arrested on drug charges after attempting to flee authorities

State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT), in conjunction with the Loves Park Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, arrested a Rockford resident for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Anthony F. Lofton, 27, of the 3000 block of Foliage Lane, Rockford, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a school and resisting arrest.
Lofton was arrested after he ran from SLANT agents while he was delivering 11 grams of crack cocaine to a residence in Loves Park near Loves Park Elementary school.
Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver is a class X felony, punishable by six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Lofton is incarcerated at Winnebago County Jail.
