Family film ‘Snowmen’ featured at Rockford’s Sullivan Theater Nov. 26
Online Staff Report
This weekend, Rockford will showcase one of the most popular family films from the 2011 Beloit International Film Festival (BIFF). Snowmen features three small-town boys who create a scheme to seek fame by setting a Guinness World Record. Their experience teaches them a valuable lesson everyone can appreciate.
The film stars Christopher Lloyd as “The Caretaker,” Ray Liotta as “Reggie,” Doug E. Doug as “Leonard,” Josh Flitter as “Jason,” Bobb’e J. Thompson as “Howard,” Bobby Coleman as “Billy,” Demi Peterson as “Gwen,” and Christian Martyn as “Lucas.” Click here for more about the movie.
This family film was regionally produced and has not yet been widely released. Two special showings will take place in Rockford on Thanksgiving weekend — at 2 and 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Sullivan Theater.
Tickets — $8 adults, $5 students and youth — are on sale at Rockford Area Arts Council, 713 E. State St.; Blackhawk Bank, 2475 N. Perryville; Blackhawk Bank, 5206 Elevator Road, Roscoe; Franchesco’s, 7128 Spring Creek Road; and at the door, if any are still available.
The showings are part of a preview event for BIFF, which has chosen Rockford to serve as host location for a series of movies during the 2012 festival.
“This film is a great way to kick off the holiday season with a family-friendly event,” said Ed McCullough, director of the Element. “It’s one of the many great festivities taking place in the coming weeks including Harris Winter Wonderland’s, ice skating at Davis Park, First Fridays Events and Festival of Lights at Sinnissippi Park.”
This is the first year Rockford will serve as a host site for films during the festival, which takes place in February. Films will be shown at two Rockford locations — Franchesco’s Ristorante and the Sullivan Theater. Those films will be announced early next year. The Rockford activities, known as BIFF@Rockford, allow the Rockford Region to be a regional player in this internationally acclaimed festival.
BIFF@Rockford will include all Rockford Region BIFF activities from the preview film to the actual festival and everything in between.
BIFF is a four-day event showcasing approximately 140 films and filmmakers from around the world. The festival features international films including a variety of local and regional productions.
