Dr. Harvey Einhorn, along with SwedishAmerican Health System oncology clinics, received The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) “Relentless For A Cure” Award. The presentation took place before the Light the Night Walk Sept. 25 in downtown Rockford.
The society recognized Dr. Einhorn for his dedication to superior patient care. During his speech, Dr. Einhorn mentioned his father was an oncologist, and he actually began following him during rounds and home visits at age 14. Dr. Einhorn said cancer treatment advancements have occurred because of clinical trials and proceeded to share how cure rates have gone up for many types of cancer.
“I was proud to be the recipient of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s ‘Relentless For A Cure’ Award,” said Dr. Einhorn. “I feel fortunate to be a part of such a strong oncology program at SwedishAmerican Health System. Our program gives us access to a broad patient base, cooperative studies and the latest drugs. These endeavors will improve the quality and duration of people’s lives.”
The award was established in 2009 to recognize an individual who has exhibited a lifetime commitment to the LLS mission — to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
