Two arrested on drug charges following search of 17th Avenue apartment

Clarina L. Box, 30, and Raphael G. Gray, 34, both of Rockford, were arrested on drug charges Dec. 1. The arrests came following a search of an apartment at 1613 17th Ave.
Members of the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received information that crack cocaine was being sold out of 1613 17th Ave., apartment No. 1. The Narcotics Unit initiated an investigation that resulted in obtaining a search warrant for the apartment. The search was executed Dec. 1. Box and Gray were located inside the residence.
During the search of the apartment, detectives located crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis. Ammunition and other items associated with drug trafficking were also located and recovered.
Box is charged with possession with intent to deliver 1-15 grams of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a park and possession of less than 2.5 grams of cannabis.
Gray is charged with possession of heroin less than 15 grams.
