Arrests made in Dec. 2 armed robbery of East State Dollar General

Two Rockford men have been arrested following a Dec. 2 armed robbery at the Dollar General Store, 3632 E. State St., Rockford.
Dane M. O’Hare, 25, and Joshua J. Linley, 30, were arrested shortly after the robbery, which occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2.
O’Hare is charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery with a knife, and Linley is charged with armed robbery.
Detectives are investigating the possibility this incident may be related to several similar armed robbery incidents in the Rockford area over the past several weeks.
Patrol officers and detectives from the Rockford Police Department responded to Dollar General shortly before 6:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, in reference to an armed robbery incident. When they arrived, officers learned a white male suspect had entered the business armed with a knife. The suspect confronted an employee and demanded money.
A struggle over the knife ensued between the suspect and a male employee, who sustained a minor stab wound to his hand. The suspect then fled the store after obtaining an undisclosed amount of money.
A short time later, detectives located a possible suspect vehicle in the 3100 block of 11th Street. A traffic stop was performed, and two suspects — O’Hare and Linley — were identified.
