I am writing as a parent whose child is in the CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) program at Auburn High School. I don’t know if your paper does special stories like this, but with our local press reporting on schools not working, budget cuts, students dropping out or involved in community crime, THE CAPA PROGRAM IS A SUCCESS STORY THAT SHOULD BE TOLD TO ROCKFORD!! This is a group of the most talented, hard-working students you’ll ever see who are led by the fabulous teachers of Jim Crow and Beth Heuer. They just completed their fall play of Cats last month, and they were only one out of two musical plays in the whole state of Illinois that was chosen to perform at the Illinois High School Theater Festival at the beginning of January at Illinois State University!! Rockford needs to know that and know MORE about these great success stories, and support these students who are doing the right thing and trying to better their life. Can you guys get the word out and do an article in your paper on CAPA? I would love to share more information with you and get you in touch with the teachers at Auburn who are so fantastic.
