Chicago man arrested in 2010 Rockford murder

Clifton D. Wyatt, 24, of Chicago, has been arrested and charged with the Nov. 4, 2010, murder of Ladarrick Torry, 37, in Rockford.

Wyatt is charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder, multiple counts of attempted murder, multiple counts of home invasion, multiple counts of residential burglary, multiple counts of attempted armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Police responded to 3809 Sage Drive, Apartment A, in Rockford shortly after 8 p.m., Nov. 4, on reports of a person lying outside the building possibly shot. Upon arrival, officers located Torry unresponsive and bleeding from the chest area. Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced Torry dead.

Police conducted a follow-up investigation and learned a black male suspect broke into Apartment A while Torry and another individual were inside. The other individual was treated and released at a local hospital.

Wyatt is in custody in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
