Police investigate Dec. 8 murder on Hiatt Drive

Shortly after 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, members of the Rockford Police Department responded to the 6900 block of Hiatt Drive in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a victim of gunshot wounds lying in the street. The victim, identified as Paul R. Ezop, 46, was transported to a local hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

After the shooting incident, a black male seen driving a brown or maroon GMC or Chevy full-size sports utility vehicle (SUV), possibly with the Z71 package, was seen leaving the area.
