As a LEAF owner I will tell you my cars range is greatly reduced by hills and cold weather. Even mild elevation gains seriously drain the battery. I drive mostly on city streets at speeds under 40 in eco mode. I am not a lead foot by any means.Despite that Ive found that the hummocky terrian of some of the roads I use kill the range dramatically. You can watch the range counter tick down frustratingly fast as you gain elevation, no matter how slight. I have been averaging only 55 miles of range per full charge this winter. The car does much better on flat surfaces at low speeds during the spring and summer but hills remain a range drain issue.I give this car high praise for its build quality and performance but its range issues and need for frequent recharging would make it hard for me to recommend to someone who lives in a hilly area with cold winters. Hopefully the next generation EV's will provide us with ranges that make these cars more practical and less stressful to drive. yes range anxiety is real. I have felt it several times this winter.

You asked yourself a question, which car do like the most, the LEAF or the Volt.

While you clearly liked the LEAF, how does it stack up in your estimation to the Volt?

I do agree that NOW is the time to get an EV, the government incentives are significant and new taxes for EV's are non existent (at the moment, just wait).
