Victim of South Fourth Street homicide died of stab wound

Terry Johnson, 47, who was found dead in the back yard of a house at 1802 S. Fourth St., Rockford, Dec. 19, died of a single stab wound, the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office said Dec. 20.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:40 a.m., Monday, Dec. 19, after officers responded to a report of a man lying motionless in a back yard.

Rockford Police Department Violent Crimes Unit is investigating this case as a homicide.
