The majority of sub-prime loans were forced on banks by the Fed (Janet Reno's goons would shut you down if you didn't give a loan to unqualified minorities) and ACORN (picket you and shout at anyone coming in). The implication at the end of the article is that bank foreclosures drove the crisis, when people not paying their mortgages (some not paying anything from the time they'd moved in) were in the driver's seat. Of additional interest is the settlement amount. Works out to a little over $1,500 per plaintiff...before legal fees. Who's profiting here? Something smells fishy here.
