Former Winnebago High teacher charged with sexual assault of student

Thomas Odon, 24, a former band teacher at Winnebago High School, has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a student at Winnebago High School, Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced Dec. 22.
Odon, who is from Arlington Heights, had just finished his first year at Winnebago. After the allegations were made, Odon was put on administrative leave at the beginning of the school year, and he later resigned.
Criminal sexual assault is a class 1 felony with a sentencing range of four to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, non-probationable, followed by three years mandatory supervised release.
Aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a class 2 felony with a sentencing range of three to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by two years mandatory supervised release.
