Golfing at a Rockford Park District course in December isn’t always an option, but for one day this weekend, weather-permitting, Elliot Golf Course, 888 S. Lyford Road, Cherry Valley, will be open. Opening Elliot during the month of December has not happened for five years.
The course will be open 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31.
Fast facts about Elliot Golf Course
• 18-hole championship course
• 6,433 yards of rolling terrain, large trees and spacious greens
• Par 72 course
• Opened in 1968
• Named for Earl F. Elliot, a long-time director of the Rockford Park District
