Rockford Guilford teacher charged with aggravated battery involving student

Winnebago County State’s Attorney Joe Bruscato announced Jan. 5 that Aaron P. Oetting, 36, a teacher at Rockford Guilford High School, has been charged with three counts of aggravated battery, two counts or reckless conduct and four counts of battery involving a student at Guilford High School.
Aggravated Battery is a class 3 felony with a sentencing range of two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by one year mandatory supervised release or up to 30 months probation. Maximum fines are up to $25,000.
Reckless conduct is a class 4 felony with a sentencing range of one to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by one year mandatory supervised release or up to 30 months probation. Maximum fines are up to $25,000.
Battery is a class A misdemeanor with a sentencing range of up to one year in jail or up to 24 months probation. Maximum fine is up to $2,500.
