If they have been mediocre for 8 years under Lovie Smith, then how do you rate them over the 8 years before that?

I'm not a huge Lovie fan either, but I can't remember too many games where we had a commanding lead, enough to give Hanie some playing time. Cutler, known for his passing ability, was acquired when we didn't really have any deep threats for him to pass to. Nor has the offensive line done its job in protecting him. This has hurt Cutler's effectiveness. This year we finally seemed to have a decent receiving team paired with Cutler's talents. So whose fault is the delay in beefing up the receiver and offensive line talent? Smith or Angelo? I lay the blame for the lack of talent squarely on Angelo. For many years now the Bears have relied on defense and special teams for scoring as many, if not more, points than the offense to win games. Yes is a team effort, but the offense needs to score more than just field goals. Smith was just getting by with mediocre first string offensive talent, why put in the second stringers? Maybe you're right and they should have let Smith go too, but I'm glad they shook up the front office. The front office puts the talent on the field, the coaches are responsible for putting the talent to work.

You mean, until the McCaskey's relinquish ownership, we will be mediocre.
