Since all teachers are required to be certified and highly qualified for the subjects that they teach, what is Cedric Lewis’s degree or licensure for being in charge of budgets, grant dispersements etc.?

Again, we have deception: Smooth talking Dr. Willis, through his trusty mouthpiece, says district didn’t walk out on negotiations and he plans to submit REA’s counteroffer to BOE on Tuesday. Get the story straight for once, RPS205 – tell the truth for once.

Just heard that the District unilaterally stopped negotiations with the teachers. Way to go school board–another show of lack of honesty.

Rockford is going backwards quickly with its hate of education and educators. Look at RVC and now the District.

I am so glad to be retired and have the kids gone. The future of Rockford keeps sinking.

Another deception which began with the last administration was the intentionally false claim of an insurmountable deficit of funds. After an outside audit, the exaggeration was exposed and, the district’s funds were proven to be in good shape. The doubt and cry of $$$ woes has lingered and made the community turn hateful toward teachers as if they are public school $$$ leaches. I am an RPS 205 teacher & I can tell you that there is so much energy, time and effort going into one of the most emotionally, physically and mentally challenging careers possible. And would anybody question its importance? Please, support the teachers during our efforts to negotiate a fair working contract because we can afford to give them our best.

As an RPS employee who has worked under both LaVonne Sheffield’s administration and this current administration, I have one thing to say: With Sheffield, you always knew where you stood; she made no bones about telling people what she thought. On the flip side, you have Willis’s team who “plays” nice to your face and then walks away and does what they want. You tell me who is more deceptive!

BTW: Someone might want to do a more thorough background check on Cedric’s buddy, Evan Kaine who came from Mississippi, too.

It is always better to lead with the truth.

Yet many days have past for Dr. Willis to redeem the district by issuing a follow up statement. Either Cedric Lewis, Earl Dotson, another district official, or he personally, provided the grossly distorted information contained in the press release to the community.

We would expect an explanation from the children attending our Rockford Public Schools…let alone it’s leaders.
