I agree with the substance of the letter, but think we are spending way too much time with the High School Civics lesson.

The bottom line as far as I am concerned is the leftist-liberal belief that wealth should be transferred in increasing amounts to fund these social services.

With the unchecked illegal immigration of mostly poor Mexican and Central Americans, the United States is well on it's way to becoming a third world country. We simply cannot afford to feed and educate all of the worlds poor. Today, somewhere around 50% of the population does NOT pay any tax.

We, the baby boomers and our idiot off-spring have almost destroyed our country in one generation.

Dan
Thank you for your response to my opinion. Actually I think the United States is a constitutional republic. The executive, legislative and judicial powers are separated into distinct branches.

Nice response. I'd only change the line "The United States is a Republic." I think we are a combination sometimes called a Democratic Republic. Also sometimes referred to as a representative Republic. After all, China is a Republic and so was the U.S.S.R., to name a couple.

Mr. Kenney's statement that "empowerment begins with a free and equal public education" is ludicrous. It is an impossibility. Are public school teachers going to teach for free? Are all forms of education equal? If my wife and I home-school our children, why am I forced to pay THOUSANDS of dollars each year for somebody's "free" education? One person's idea of "free" and "equal" education is another person's tax burden and misfortune as America's publicly-educated children become more misinformed, maligned, myopic and manipulated each semester.
