Photos: Prairie Preservation Society holds wine tasting Feb. 18
The Prairie Preservation Society of Ogle County (PPSOC) will host a wine tasting from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, at Hailey’s Winery and Vineyard, 114 Franklin St., Byron, Ill. Cost is $5 and includes samples of different wines, appetizers and acoustic music. The PPSOC holds various events throughout the year. Pictured, from top to bottom, is a prairie hike at Sand Ridge Prairie; a camp fire at Sand Ridge Prairie; and Sand Ridge Prairie in summer. The 83-acre Sand Ridge Prairie — formerly the Sinnissippi Tree Farms’ cut-your-own Christmas tree operation — was purchased by PPSOC in December 2010 with a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation.
