Chicago Slaughter offer Randy Moss a contract
Online Staff Report
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — The Chicago Slaughter, a member of the Indoor Football League (IFL), announced Feb. 14 that they have offered former NFL star Randy Moss a contract to play receiver for the franchise during the upcoming 2012 season. Details about the contract have not been released.
The 35-year-old Moss played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. He was voted to the Pro Bowl six times. In addition, Moss led the NFL in touchdown catches for five seasons, and is second all-time with 153 touchdown catches.
The Marshall University graduate is fifth all-time in career receiving yards, ninth in receptions, and 10th in receiving yards per game.
“We’ve been looking for another receiver that can separate themselves from the cover guys in this league,” said Chicago Slaughter General Manager and President Jeff Sedivy. “Moss would be a perfect fit.”
Moss would not be the first NFL star to surface in the IFL this season. Former 49ers, Eagles and Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens signed with the Allen Wranglers earlier this year.
The Chicago Slaughter, a member of the professional IFL, opens its sixth season at home at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates Feb. 19 with the IFL Kickoff Classic against in-state rival the Bloomington Edge.
