Court Street UMC holds ‘Worship Through Arts’ Concert Series

Court Street United Methodist Church (UMC) will hold its Third Annual “Worship Through Arts” Concert Series at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 19, in the sanctuary, 215 N. Court St.

The purpose of these concerts is to build an awareness of different styles of worship through the performing arts. A free-will offering will be taken. All profits from these events will benefit the church’s Organ Repair Fund as they continue to do a full restoration of the Moeller sanctuary organ.

Featured at this concert will be violinist and Rockford native Leah Zahn. She has been playing and teaching violin for 15 years. Pieces performed will include Norman Lloyd’s Three Pieces for Violin & Piano, movie themes by John Williams, and Sonatina, Opus 100, by Dvorak.

Julia Schade is music director for Court Street United Methodist Church. She was born and raised in Rockford and has been very active in the community as an accompanist for the Rockford Public Schools, Rockford College, Rock Valley College, New American Theater and Y-Knot Productions.
