Private schools host information fair Feb. 18

Partnerships promote common sense, a common purpose, and a commitment to community. For those reasons and many more, Opportunities for Non-Public Education (ONE) will host an information fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18 at the CherryVale Mall.
Interested families will have a chance to meet with representatives from 12 to 15 independent, parochial, and private schools and learn more about some of the area’s top educational programs.
“In our region, 20 to 25 percent of the student body goes to a private, independent or parochial school,” said Gary Kahn, co-president of ONE. “Collectively, we want to make sure the community is aware of some of Rockford’s top educational choices. Our group (ONE) realizes that by working together, we can better serve the community. All of our schools are different, but we have a common goal, and that is to provide the best possible education.”
Prior to the distribution of the release, more schools were still in the process of signing up for the event. Each school will host an information table located at “center court” within CherryVale Mall. Enrollment packets, financial aid information and details about each grade level’s curriculum will be available for prospective parents to take home.
Opportunities for Non-Public Education (ONE) was established in 2009 in the spirit of collaboration. The group meets monthly to discuss ways to work together, combine resources and introduce new ideas that may benefit the area’s education system.
