‘Young Eagles Success’ Club kids celebrate Black History Month

The “Young Eagles Success” (YES) Club kids will celebrate February as Black History Month at two events, sponsored by Carl and Dianna Cole of Sounds Of Good News Productions and St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The first event, “Without a Song,” will begin at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Rockford College’s Maddox Theatre. Tickets are $5 in advance for adults, $3 for students and seniors, $8 at the door for adults, and free for children 12 and younger.

The second event, “The Power of Unity,” will begin at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18, at Liberty Baptist Church, 3500 Preston St. Admission is free, although proceeds and donations will benefit the “YES” Club.

Members of the YES group include: Community Core Group President, Cesar Martinez; Kennedy Middle School President, Nautica Phipps; West Middle School President Layla Marsh; and Community Core Group Lead Vocalist Jaleen McWilliams.
