I suggest we make a list, seriously, of some bills that we would like Lt.Governor Sheila
Simon to consider introducing. Here’s mine:

Cigarette companies will be charged $5 for every pack of cigarettes they sell due to the positive correlation found between the amount of cigarettes smoked & the increased risk of a smoke related illness. The money will help to offset the undue pressure on the healthcare system by not only the smoker, but those in the smoker’s vehicle, home, their children etc. who are affected by second-hand smoke. Studies have PROVEN this correlation. All monies from this Law will be put into a Universal Healthcare System Fund to be accessed by everyone except those who profit from the manufacture of cigarettes.

I support funding rape crisis centers, but I’d like to see some sources cited on the links between violence against women, crime, and the prevalence of strip clubs. How does looking at a naked woman cause someone to commit violence?

This also incorrectly implies that sexual violence is at root caused by the women who work in this industry, caused by women’s bodies. Rape and violence is caused by the people who choose to commit rape and violence.

The money to provide these services is vital, and it has to come from somewhere, but it should be coming from all Illinois tax payers.

You can’t justify imposing a tax without proof of causality. That would be like charging farmers a tax to fund anti obesity groups. Or charging the same farmers a tax to combat poverty, for not growing enough food. Next, tax fuel companies to fund anti speeding advertisements. How about we tax art teachers to fund graffiti cleanup crews. Whoever this person is, they obviously didn’t think it through very well.

One of the greatest dangers facing females in the US Military is rape; it is epidemic and a disgrace. I would wager that a woman has more of a chance of being raped by her own platoon mates than outside a strip club. What should we do about that Lt. Governor?

Just another excuse to take money for hapless social engineering projects that never work and constantly need more funding. How about making strippers pay income taxes instead? It is an all cash business and none of them report their income. Five bucks will be 20 dollars in ten years, mark it.

Does she even realize (one supposes not) that research has shown that providing a sexual outlet for sexual beings (that would be humans), leads to a reduction is sexual crime?

You can have all the beliefs you want, but you can’t have your own facts. If you willfully ignore and obfuscate facts in designing policy, you are not the solution – you are exacerbating the cycle of ignorance and destruction.

strip clubs should fund rape crisis clinics… why? Should bars pay for AA meetings and detox? Should hospitals have to pay for detox and recovery for narcotics addiction after treatment? that’s ridiculous. No wonder this state is so poor, its politicians are idiots.
