Great article written from the heart. Also being someone that has followed this program closely for many years, I could relate many moments that touched me delivered by Coach Leonard. One such night was the last game of the season at South Beloit High School. After a hard fought battle, Chistian Life fell to the other team. However, Coach Chuck, lined up the entire team on the 50 yard line and one by one went to each member of the team and told them each how important they were and how much they meant to the school but especially what they meant to him. The crowd had filed out, and the lights begin to be turned out, but Coach Leonard was not finished, and I stood there with tears in my eyes, and said, "now there is a man who loves football, but more than that, he loves the kids that play football." A scene I will never forget!!

It's really nothing new for First Assembly or Christian Life to mistreat people, whether they work for them, volunteer for them, or are a participant in one of their many programs. I know first hand, they are pretty quick to stab one of their own in the back. It's sad, really, that for some people the establishment on the corner of Springcreek and Mulford is the only impression of Christianity that they may get. Because there is a far from Christ-like attitude represented by the majority of those involved with their ministries.

I was SO sorry to learn a so-called "Christian" school mis-treating such a well-respected man this way! If they knew how many times kids knocked on his door late at night for advice or help, and were 'always there for them' they would realize what they have lost!! Sounds to me that church is lacking good leadership.....and now lacking one good coach!
